welcome

As the librarian for students and faculty in English Literature, please ask questions, request books, and come and chat with me about your projects. My job includes selecting the best books, journals and finding aids, helping individual students find and use the best resources for their courses, and teaching library research skills.

Questions are welcome. I am here to help you, as are all library staff.

Good luck and have fun !

About this guide

This Library Guide suggests key databases for articles; depending on your research you will also want to explore databases recommended by other library guides, etc. Use the Tabs for particular aspects of English Literature in addition to "find articles" "find books" etc.

Texts, also called primary sources, are often in books. Find books, including electronic books, in the catalogue. For sources not included in this guide, scan other library guides.

Critical analysis of texts is found in journal articles, and in books. Index databases point to the sources, and often provide full text online. Edited books often contain a selection of scholarly articles; sometimes, but not nearly always, the contents are in the catalogue.

Websites proliferate, always check for reputable resources.

Don't forget the Library's Catalogue -- searching by keyword retrieves information at the chapter level.
